2020 is the first year of Taiwan Organic Tea. To expand the advertising effect, New Taipei City Government, Tea Research and Extension Station, Liu-Kung Agriculture Foundation, Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation, and New Taipei City Organic Agricultural Products Marketing Cooperative cooperated in holding the first Taiwan Organic Tea Selection this year, which is divided into two groups: strip-type and ball-type, prizes include”Tsui-Wa Award (also known as Jade Frog Award),” golden, silver, and bronze frogs. In 2020 Taiwan TAGs Organic Tea Award officially issued the “Taiwan Specialty Teas Flavor Wheel” for the Six Tea Types, which comprises the flavors of specialty teas across Taiwan. New Taipei City Tea farmer Hsin-Chung Cheng and Ching Yuan Tea Farm won the “Tsui-Wa Award,” respectively. Hsin-Chung Cheng is a New Taipei City Organic Agricultural Products Marketing Cooperative member. He returned to his hometown to work in agriculture ten years ago. He took over the organic tea garden of his parents and continued the organic concept for three generations. In this competition, he won one “Tsui-Wa Award,” three gold, and one silver prize. Ching Yuan Tea Farm was established in Pinglin in 2009, distributing the mission of promoting organic tea. Over the years, Ching Yuan Tea Farm has communicated tea farmers’ concepts, education, counseling, tea garden management, tea production process, marketing, and sales, among others. Ching Yuan Tea Farm also won one Tsui-Wa Award, two gold, two silver, and five bronze prizes.

Major Hou personally awarded medals today to encourage organic tea farmers and issued the “Taiwan Specialty Teas Flavor Wheel” together with Tea Research and Extension Station. Taiwan Specialty Teas Flavor Wheel for the Six Tea Types, which comprises the flavors of specialty teas across Taiwan. People can distinguish the color, fragrance, and taste of tea before drinking, which meets personal preferences. Major Hou said that the output, quality, and tea-making technology of Wenshan Paochong tea are the best in Taiwan. NTPC Tea drives the development of the whole tea industry. While developing the industry and striving for the economy, NTPC Tea also takes environmentally friendly organic farming as the long-term goal. During the epidemic prevention period, New Taipei City Government continues to support the development of organic agriculture and expand the marketing channels of agricultural products. Wen Lee, the Commissioner of Agriculture Department, said that this year’s National Organic Tea Selection was upgraded from New Taipei City to the whole country. The tea exhibition will be held at Taipei Hope Plaza Farmer Market today (June 13) and tomorrow (June 14).
