It’s summertime! Wugu Bamboo Shoot Season of Guanyin Mountain has started. From now until September 5, there are lovely weekend and holiday activities. Everyone is invited to visit the Lu-Ju (green bamboo shoot) community to taste the freshest bamboo shoots and bring agricultural products home.
Lu-Ju Community, Wugu District, is located in Guanyin Mountain National Scenic Area. Because of the suitable climate, soil, and professional farming techniques, the green bamboo shoots in this community are sweet, soft, and delicious. The presence of rhinoceros beetles, fireflies, frogs, and snakes makes the community an ecological treasure base, a must-see attraction in New Taipei City to experience ecology and tasty food. On the occasion of green bamboo shoots, the community organized a series of marketing festival activities to promote bamboo shoots industry and invited people to experience the ecological beauty and taste the unique flavor of green bamboo shoots in rural regeneration communities in their free time.
During the Green Bamboo Festival period, bamboo shoot picking experience, cultural and historical guide, and music feast activities will be launched every weekend; people can go bamboo hunting in the community to experience the charm of green bamboo. The parent-child bamboo shoot picking activity will be handled from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Saturday, with a limit of 15 applicants. Participants can bring one refrigerated bamboo shoot as souvenirs. Cultural and historical guided activities will start every 3 p.m Sunday, introducing Guanyin Mountain’s history and rich ecosystem. Local musicians are invited to perform on the stage at the Chi-Gan Lake Farm Restaurant from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday; people can enjoy the music while tasting the bamboo shoots cuisine.
Hai-Tu Yang, Chairman of Lu-Ju Community, said that the cooperation between local organizations and government agencies is the key to sustainable rural regeneration of agriculture. Thanks to the guidance and support of the Agriculture Department, New Taipei City Government, Lu-Ju Community has been able to continuously promote rural industry, which makes young people return to their hometowns for employment and create a vision of sustainable development of the community.

People can enjoy safe food, and communities can gradually regain environmental diversity. Everyone is invited and welcomed to discover and experience the charm of the green bamboo shoots and Lu-Ju Community.
