Small-scale Farmers in Link sell High-Quality Agricultural Products at Mitsui Outlet Park

Mitsui Outlet Park in Linkou District is a perfect place to enjoy shopping, food, and entertainment during the holidays. From March 1 to 31, 10:30 am to 6 pm every Saturday and Sunday, there will be Linkou small-scale farmers in the shopping mall to display and sell the freshest organic agricultural products, including leafy vegetables, roots, fruits, rice, and eggs. Check-in at Facebook on opening day can get limited-edition organic vegetables.

Yu-Ling Chiu, the young Linkou farmer who coordinates this direct sales counter for small-scale farmers, said that local organic farmers have high similarities in production, life, and production, which should be able to unite into a big-scale organic co-prosperity platform. Therefore they established a brand called “Linkou Organic Village” to expand their sales channel for organic vegetables. This year under the guidance of the Agriculture Department of the New Taipei City Government and Linkou Farmers’ Association, small-scale farmers in Linkou District first cooperated with Mitsui Outlet Park for this exhibition plan. This plan gathers farmers in Linkou, connects farmers and consumers, encourages consumers to choose safe, seasonal, and local food materials to shorten food mileage, and supports organic agriculture.

A dreamy and beautiful Wisteria Corridor is settled in the central square of Mitsui Outlet Park. Visitors could take beautiful photos in the floral area and buy high-quality fresh products on the same trip. Organic can also improve people’s immune function and maintain health during epidemic prevention.

Wen Lee, the Agriculture Department Commissioner, said, “Access to markets is the road to sustainability.” Matching small-scale organic farmers to malls not only opens up new channels for organic agriculture but also enhances the brand awareness of farmers, makes the public pay attention to and support organic agriculture, and drives new agricultural innovations. In addition to promoting local organic agrarian products in combination with department stores, it also continued to guide and encourage multiple channels such as Farmers’ Association supermarkets, the establishment of farmers’ direct sales stations, New Taipei City small-scale farmers’ fresh shops, farmers’ fairs combined with large-scale activities, cooperation with mainstream supermarkets, the development of e-commerce platforms, and the supply of school lunches. For this sales event, small farmers in Linkou prepare high-quality organic sprouts and all kinds of fruits and vegetables. The quality has been verified organically. People can support small-scale farmers while shopping!

Linkou Organic Village Exhibition opens from March 1 to 31, every Saturday and Sunday, from 10:30 am to 6 pm, at Mitsui Outlet Park; the venue is near the central square on the first floor. Check in on Mitsui Outlet Park or the Agriculture Department’s Facebook fan pages for a limited free package of organic vegetables if you spend more than NT$200. Be sure to seize the opportunity to buy fresh organic agricultural products.
